Title GPartEd 0.3.9-4 (work from non bootable USB Stick) Kernel /live394/vmlinuz1 live-media-path=live394 boot=live union=aufs noswap noprompt vga=791 lst" might look as follows ( I would suggest to always use the newest version of "GParted"!): These few changes are simply recoverable, if wanted. To avoid double menus, correct Vista's menu to only booting VISTA (with "EasyBCD" XP is started directly from "GRUB4DOS").

The trick is to first rename VISTA's "bootmgr" to "vistamgr" and then "GRLDR" to "bootmgr". You only need two files on the bootable primary partition (VISTA) : "GRLDR" and "menu.lst" (the latter with the readable menu script, all in Windows' root folder). The original MBR and PBR of the bootable partition must be restored, to have VISTA boot again (VISTA Recovery Center does it).īut there is an alternative, which is simple to remove : GRUB4DOS. Classical GRUB exchanges VISTA's MBR and is not quite easy to remove, if wanted.
Gparted live usb bootmgr is missing how to#
If you are interested, I can tell, how to (preparing the stick is sometimes a problem).
Gparted live usb bootmgr is missing install#
I would install GParted instead on a USB stick (128MB are enough for the moment), even if your system can't boot from it. It's even better, you do not alter anything on the same harddisk. GRUB ! Note, that the partition with "GParted" may not be altered by it. You need a Linux Bootloader/-manager to start "Gparted" from harddisk ( or external disk, USB stick, FlashCard), but you do not necessarily need a separate partition. How can I partition my hard drive and boot Gparted from that? I read the instructions on how to boot Gparted from the hard drive, but they're for Linux.
